General
What time is it?
Hey, this is a “frequently asked questions” section, so what did you expect? No one said you should expect good questions, and I’ll tell right now, good answers will usually be in short supply. Take what you can get and be happy.

Who the heck do you think you are?
I pay my psychiatrist plenty of good money to discuss this kind of question.
Are you nuts?
Well, I haven’t been certified or anything like that.

Site-Specific
Where did the name “Liars, Ink” come from?
No one place in particular, it developed over the years. I know I’ve always thought of fiction writing as the art of lying. I know that one of my favorite lines from the movies comes from “The Fourth Man” (the Verhoeven film some say got him noticed by Hollywood, poor guy), where Jeroen Krabbé character (fictional writer Gerard Reve) begins a lecture on writing with the line: “I lie the truth.”
For some, writing fiction is lying in an effort to find the truth. I like that analogy. So I use Liars, Ink for this site in the same way I used it for writing groups I ran.

Why aren’t there any graphics on the site?
I’m trying real hard to make this site simple to look at and simple to maintain. I’m not much of an artist and just about every effort to create graphics for my various sites has been less than satisfactory and time-consuming. Same for the cover art for my books. So I’m not anti-art, per se. In fact, if any digital-savvy artists want to donate to my site or books, I’ll give them all the praise and publicity I get.

How do I navigate the site?
Some recommend using the mouse, while others maintain it is not how you navigate the site, but how the site (or any web site) navigates you.

Where can I find the “Frequently Asked Questions” section?
Some would ask: “How could someone who didn’t know how to find the FAQ section ever find this question?” For those, I say:
Do you only look for answers where you expect to find them?
Will you link to my site?
Possibly. I have to like the site and know of its existence. Use the “Contact” form and tell me why I should.

Fiction-Specific
Where did the name “Matté” come from?
Pretty much just like it happened in the book.
Where do you get your ideas for writing?
I don’t so much “get ideas” as the ideas take hold of me. Then I have to write until I can stop thinking about it. Sometimes, the result is a finished product, but as often as not, it isn’t. Finished, that is. As is this answer.

Can I send you my fiction?
Sure. Why you would want to, I can’t imagine. But if you really want to, use the “Contact” form to tell me why, and I guess we’ll see.
Remember, my editing fees are over $500 an hour (and I’m a slow, methodical, editor). Oh, and unsolicited attachments will be deleted upon receipt.

Miscellaneous Other-Specific
Do you really believe what you write?
Of course not. (Well, maybe until I re-read and edit.)
Can I respond to something on your site?
Please do. Well-written and polite responses are always welcome. I’ll read most of what I receive, eventually. I might even post replies, so let me know if you’d rather I didn’t.
Can I send you my own non-fiction?
Again, certainly. Just use the “Contact” form to discuss it with me first. Mind you, I make no promises I’ll actually post whatever you send, and I certainly offer nothing in the way of pay.
